The very first thing that I did last summer after moving into my new apartment was make a batch of pickles. My belongings were all boxed up still, the furniture scattered, and it would be several more months before I would even begin painting, but I had pickles.
I have enjoyed them through the winter months and into the spring, but it has started me thinking about making them again once the pickling cucumbers appear in the farmer's markets. The batch I made last summer were garlic dill, but they mostly became garlic. I've been trying to think of some other pickle recipes to try, perhaps some plain dill pickles, maybe some bread & butter pickles, maybe some more garlic dill, but with smaller amounts of garlic :)
Have any of you tried a pickle recipe that you would recommend?

I love watermelon rind pickles! My grandmother used to make them. I'm also kind of interested in seeing if I can find a recipe that uses spicy peppers with the cucumbers. Nothing too hot, but just to give it a bit of a kick.
